Function keys are buttons on a keyboard which perform tasks other than merely printing a character on the video display. Most current keyboards have ten to twelve of these buttons. They are arrayed either in a row across the top of the keyboard, or in two columns at its left edge. Software can "program" these keys to perform different functions depending on what is currently active. ~Keyboard templates~ are often available for common programs which list the key's functions. Blank templates are also available to personalize your function keys.
